Version of 8 November 2026. By using this site you accept these terms.
1. What this site is
A demonstration of a tanker sanctions-risk model, built at the SotonShip 2026 hackathon and developed further as
a student portfolio project. It is run privately, free of charge, with no business purpose. It is not a
product or a service offered for sale.
2. Non-commercial use only
You may use the site for personal, educational and evaluation purposes, for example to assess the project as
part of a job application. You may not use the site, its scores, reports or data for any commercial
purpose, including:
- sanctions or KYC screening, lending, underwriting, insurance, chartering, trading or brokering decisions;
- any work for a company, client or employer other than evaluating this project;
- copying, scraping, republishing or selling its data or outputs.
Part of the data is licensed by its providers for non-commercial use only (see section 6). Commercial use
would need your own licences from those providers.
3. No advice, no warranty
- Scores and ratings are statistical risk indicators from a model trained on public data. They can be wrong,
incomplete or out of date; the data date is shown on every page.
- Nothing on this site is legal, compliance, financial, insurance or investment advice. Do not rely on it to
meet sanctions or other legal obligations. Check the official lists, for example the
UK Sanctions List,
the OFAC sanctions search and the
EU sanctions map.
- Exposure, premium and loss figures are illustrative assumptions, not quotes or valuations.
- The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, and may change or go offline
at any time.
4. About the vessels shown
The site names real ships from public sources. A risk score, rating or flag is not an allegation or finding
that any vessel, owner, operator, manager or person has broken a law or a sanction, or is involved in
sanctions evasion. Most highly ranked tankers are not sanctioned. A "prohibited" rating means only that the
vessel appears on the UK, EU or US sanctions list as of the list date shown. If you believe information about a
vessel is wrong, please contact the operator (section 8) and it will be reviewed.
5. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from
the use of, or reliance on, this site, its scores or its data. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any
liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
6. Data sources and licences
- Global Fishing Watch (AIS events, vessel identity, satellite radar): licensed for non-commercial use
only, with attribution. Data from globalfishingwatch.org.
- OpenSanctions (Canadian, Swiss and Australian lists, port-state detentions, the GUR War&Sanctions
catalogue): CC BY-NC 4.0, non-commercial.
Data from opensanctions.org.
- UK Sanctions List: contains public sector information licensed under the
Open Government Licence v3.0.
- US OFAC SDN list (US government data) and the EU list of designated vessels (as published by the
Danish Maritime Authority).
- Danish Maritime Authority historical AIS, IACS Vessels in Class files (published for general
information; no licence stated), IMF PortWatch: used under each provider's own terms.
- The GDELT Project: news headlines, shown with the publishing outlet and a link to the original article;
the articles belong to their publishers. Natural Earth: coastlines, public domain.
No data provider endorses this site. Names and trademarks belong to their owners. The data is a snapshot
(dates on each page), not a live feed.
7. Privacy
- No account, no sign-up. The site does not ask for your name or e-mail address.
- Cookies.
sfp_session holds a random, signed workspace ID so that your screenings, portfolios
and decisions stay private to your browser (30 days). sfp_terms remembers that you accepted the
non-commercial notice (one year). Both are needed for the site to work. There are no analytics, advertising or
tracking cookies.
- What you enter (IMO lists, portfolio names, exposure figures, decisions and comments) and the reports you
open are stored in the site's database under your workspace ID and shown to no other visitor. Please do not
enter personal data or confidential business information. Ask the operator (section 8) to delete a
workspace.
- IP addresses are used in memory to limit request rates and appear in the server's technical logs, which
are size-limited and overwritten as new entries arrive.
- No third parties. Everything a page needs, fonts included, comes from this site; your browser
contacts no other server unless you follow a link (news headlines and sources link to third-party websites
with their own policies).
- The site is hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in Frankfurt, Germany.
8. Contact and changes
For questions, corrections or deletion requests, use the contact details given where this demo was
shared with you (for example a CV).
These terms may change. The version date is at the top of this page, and the notice is shown again after a
change.
